THE Senate is currently meeting with stakeholders in oil industry over the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
Those scheduled to meet, probably as soon as the senators resume from the sallah break, are the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA).
It will be recalled that the late president, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, forwarded the bill to the National Assembly, in a bid to reform the oil sector.
The meeting, which is at the instance of the chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Senator Emmanuel Paulker, had already commenced with a meeting with some oil majors in the upstream sector, including Shell, Agip and Total, before the National Assembly went on sallah break.
