FG Okays N49 Billion to Augment FCT, River Niger Dredging Contracts

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N49bn to augment contracts for the development of infrastructure in Kubwa and Karshi satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and dredging of Lower River Niger from Warri in Delta State to Baro in Niger State.

Information Minister Labaran Maku stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of yesterday's FEC alongside Transport Minister Senator Idris Umar and Minister of State for FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide.

Umar said the dredging contract was split into five and awarded to five contractors and that the contracts covered dredging from Warri in Delta State to Baro in Niger State. He said the objective was to achieve an all year round navigability of the lower River Niger from Warri to Baro.
