FG Scales up East-West Road Project Sum by N107 Billion  [$713m]

Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the scaling up of the contract sum for construction of a section of the East-West road project in the Niger Delta by N106,969 billion.

The original contract sum for the Warri-Kaiama (Delta/Bayelsa); Port Harcourt-Ahoada (Rivers); and Ahoada-Kaiama (Rivers and Bayelsa) sections of the highway was N138,931 billion, but it has now been raised up to N245.9 billion.

Handled by Setraco, the road is to be completed by December 2013 and expected to create over 2,000 jobs.
