Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has canvassed for the
decentralization of security agencies to enable states have control over them
Stressing that such policy would assist in tackling the security challenges in
the country.
Governor Mimiko, who stated this while declaring open the National
Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association, holding in
Akure the state capital, noted that the present situation whereby the state
governors as the chief security officers of their states do not have absolute
control over the security apparatus could not effectively address the security
challenges in the country.
The Governor maintained that if the nation should achieve rapid development,
more funds must be devolved to the periphery to give room for the expected
