Contractors handling electrification and road construction projects for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Akwa Ibom State have accused the Commission of not taking the necessary steps to ensure prompt completion of jobs.

The contractors, at an interactive forum with the Akwa Ibom State representative of the NDDC, Imabong Inyang, said that not only had payment not been made for jobs executed, the commission had also failed to settle the issue of compensation of property owners before handing over projects to contractors.

The managing director of Worldwide Environmental Technologies Ltd., which is handling the Odio, Ikwe and Ikot Akpatek road project  in Onna local government area, Ako Obioma, said his company was being owed about N500 million for jobs already executed.
