Soon after the story of the escape of the mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing in Madalla, Suleja, Kabir Umar a.k.a. Kabiru Sokoto blew open, the serving Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, knew that the game was up.

In fact, before then, there were under currents and serious discreet schemings by his close friends and allies for the extension of his tenure as the Police boss which was to expire by March.

While they were making frantic moves to convince the President to endorse his extension, other interested members of the Force, especially members of the Police management team made up principally of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, were also pressing buttons, hoping that the table will turn in their favour.

Unfortunately for Ringim, the bubble burst and he saw all his hopes crashing. In fact, the escape of Kabiru Umar was like the final blow to his dream of serving longer in the Force.
