GOVERNOR Rotimi Amaechi, who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, recently advised Nigerians to troop to the streets in protest if the withdrawal of fuel subsidy did not bring about the desired improvement in their quality of life. “Hold the governors and the president responsible if they don’t deliver on their promises…” he said. Amaechi urged Nigerians to support the decision to remove the subsidy “to create room for openness and a pool of funds for massive investments in infrastructure.” Amaechi lamented the arbitrariness and lack of transparency in the country’s oil sector and maintained that only a complete reform would put things right.
