The United States Ambassador to Nigeria , Ambassador Terence McCulley has said that oil is not the most important resource Nigeria has, saying it is its rich human capital. McCulley, who spoke at the matriculation ceremony of the American University , Yola, said he is impressed with the intelligence and drive of Nigerians.
“This country’s most important resource is not oil. Rather, it is its diverse and decent people, particularly its youths. Every day, whether at meetings with entrepreneurs, government officials, members of the civil society, farmers, shopkeepers, and students, I am always impressed and inspired by their optimism, intelligence and drive,” he said.
He said there is nothing more valuable than quality education, adding that American is proud that its university model is serving as an example of excellence in Nigeria .
