UPDATE: Information available to elombah.com indicates that the crisis engendered in the Nigeria Judiciary by the suspension of the President of the Court of Appeal, Hon Justice Ayo Salami deepened Friday with both sides becoming more entrenched in their positions. Yesterday, Thursday, August 8 2011, the National Judicial Council (NJC) suspended Court of Appeal President, Hon. Justice Ayo Salami (OFR), presumably over his refusal to tender an
apology to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Katsina Alu and itself following the Council’s earlier directive.
Justice Salami and his legal team expressed shock at the decision of the NJC, and have decided to challenge the action in the courts while the National Judicial Council has made a recommendation to the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to retire Salami from service.
