Niger Delta commission empowers 323 youth
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has recruited 323 unemployed youths in Delta State under its graduate empowerment programme.

Mr Ogidi explained that under the programme, which was introduced in 2010, the selected youth would undergo training in different skills for one month before going for attachment with private entrepreneurs as workers.

"After attaching them to private employers, the commission pays a monthly stipend of 30,000 to each of them, while the employer pays 15,000 bringing the emolument to 45,000.

"The essence of the programme is to enable the youth to use the two-year apprenticeship period to acquire experience, which will carry them through life, either in regular or self employment," he added.
