Bayelsa teachers decry overcrowding of classrooms

Teachers in Bayelsa State have expressed concern over the overcrowding of classrooms in public primary schools in the state.

Some of the teachers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews that the problem is more pronounced in Yenagoa, the state capital.

They complained that in most schools in the state, there are between 150 and 250 pupils in a classroom, thereby making it difficult for teachers to easily impart knowledge to the pupils.

"The situation in the classrooms is such that children at the back rows don't hear what the teacher says during lesson periods.
