Bomb blasts: I didn’t speak hastily, Jonathan tells critics

Daily Independent

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday debunked claims that he spoke hastily in absolving Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) of complicity in the Independence Day car bomb blasts that killed no less than 10 persons in Abuja.

The timing of his comments a day after the bomb blasts has been attracting criticisms from sections of the country, including some Northern politicians and presidential aspirants.

But while addressing a delegation of the Northern Political Summit (G20) who came on a solidarity visit to Aso Rock, Jonathan said he committed no “sin” by speaking out as he only meant that the perpetrators of the acts should not be allowed to hide under the canopy of MEND.
