Appeal Court gets acting President

The confusion over the headship of the Court of Appeal cleared a bit last night when President Goodluck Jonathan approved the appointment of Justice Dalhatu Adamu as acting President of the Court “pending when all issues relating to the recent suspension of Justice Isa Ayo Salami are resolved.”

The court’s president Justice Isa Ayo Salami was suspended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) at its 7th Emergency Meeting in Abuja last Thursday following what it said was his  refusal to tender apologies to it and to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu.

The NJC also recommended to the President to retire Salami from his post.
