Yenagoa — Bayelsa State House of Assembly, yesterday, approved the request by Governor Timipre Sylva to deduct over N5.5billion from budgetary allocations of some ministries and parastatals to fund some projects in the state.
The House also suspended chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Mr. S. Sikoki. It also stopped the on-going recruitment exercise by the state Civil Service over complaints against the exercise and the failure of the Chairman to appear before the House as ordered last week.
On the N5.5billion approval requested by the governor, Speaker of the House, Mr Nestor Binabo, said though the money does not add to the existing monetary provisions in the approved 2011 budget, the action of the governor was timely and meant to sustain the development of the state.
