2 Killed, 32 Arrested in Cult, Robbery Attacks

It was a bloody Sunday in Bayelsa state as two persons were killed and 15 persons placed on danger list following two separate cult battles in Yenagoa and Sagbama town. The police has however arrested 20 youths in connection with the Sagbama incident.

THISDAY gathered that trouble broke out when the Icelanders cult was forcing youths of the community be initiated into the group.

The refusal of the some of the youths attracted a kingpin of a rival group, called the Greenlanders. A gun battle soon broke out as the Icelanders invaded the homes of their rival, killing one while several others sustained bullet wounds and machete cuts.
It was the timely arrival of the police special unit, Operation Famou Tamgbei,, that quelled the raging battle.
