IJAW youths are currently worried over what they described as ''lack-lustre performance'' of the Niger Delta Affairs Ministry. The Western zone of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) rose from a meeting in Ondo State, claiming that the ministry a disappointment.

While expressing dismay at the performance of the ministry, they charged it to wake up to its developmental challenges.
The obviously angry youths also sent a message to all Ijaw public office holders that they ''must'' make delivery of democracy dividends their watchwords or face brace to face their wrath.

The IYC Western zone however, comprises of Delta, Edo and Ondo states. They met at Arogbo, Ondo State, the previous Saturday, to deliberate on the pace of development in Ijaw communities.

In a communique that was wired to AkanimoReports on Sunday, the Ijaw youths expressed dismay at the performance of the Niger Delta Ministry and called on its handlers to wake up and start tangible development of the oil and gas region.
They however, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for re-appointing one of their own, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, as his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs. They  claimed that Kuku has been using his experience as a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly to fast-track the amnesty programme for repentant militants.

The Arogbo meeting equally pleaded with government to send more Ijaw youths to leadership trainings, quality skills acquisition as well as value re-orientation schemes like those of the amnesty programme.
