Uduaghan Storms out Delta Assembly as Ochei Emerges Speaker

African Examiner
8 June 2011

Governor of Delta State Dr Emmnuel Uduaghan on Monday walked out of the Delta state House Assembly in protest. The Governor had sent a note to the clerk of the assembly to remove some items from the order paper but he refused.

Following this development, Governor Uduaghah stormed out the assembly midway into the inauguration of the assembly when the clerk started reading the proclamation speech meant for the governor. The Governor did not return to the ceremony despite several appeals by some members elect.

This hiccup notwithstanding, the 5th assembly of the Delta House of Assembly
elected Hon. Victor Onyekachi Ochei, PDP, representing Aniocha North
constituency, as the Speaker while Hon. Basil Ganagana, PDP representing Patani constituency was selected as the Deputy Speaker.
Both leaders were elected unopposed.
