Govt Slides to Fifth Position in U.S. Oil Import
Nigeria has lost its position as the world's third supplier of crude to the United States, among both OPEC and non-OPEC member countries, after Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, sliding to the fifth position, after Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
Latest monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports to the United States showed that Nigeria has dropped from third position to fifth position, according to March 2011 data.
Nigeria exported 948,000 barrels per day to the United States in February 2011, but this figure dropped to 840, 000 barrels per day in March 2011, down from 939,000 bpd in March 2010.
