Nigeria: New Cabinet - Jonathan Tells Ministers to Stay On

Vanguard
26 May 2011

Abuja — As earlier reported by Vanguard, President Goodluck Jonathan, rather than dissolve the Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday, directed his ministers to continue in office pending further directive.

At the weekly FEC session, Jonathan, who presided over the last meeting in this dispensation, at the Council Chamber of the State House, thanked the cabinet members for their contributions so far, even as he urged them to stay put till further notice.

Addressing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the valedictory meeting, which lasted for about two hours, Information and Communications Minister, Labaran Maku, said, "The last council meeting has been held but the executive council remains, it has not been dissolved." He, however, did not give reason for the extension.
