NDDC awards power, water contracts in Ondo

In order to address the epileptic power supply in some communities of Ondo State, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has awarded the contract for the construction of a N6 billion sub-power station of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) at Okitipupa area of the state.

The commission also awarded the contract for the construction of modern bore-holes at the cost of N700m in oil producing communities in the area.

The state’s representative on the governing board of NDDC, Benson Enikuomehin who disclosed this while speaking with reporters in Akure yesterday, said the modern bore-holes would be sunk in selected towns to tackle the problems of non-availability of potable water.

“The PHCN sub power station project, which is to be sited in Okitipupa, will commence before the end of June 2011, while the water projects are on-going in their respective locations,” he said.

“The projects became very important because of the economic value of the people in the area and their contribution to national development”
