Following a tacit endorsement of the existing power sharing formula by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Senate President, David Mark, has embarked on intense lobbying to consolidate his position come June 6, 2011 when the seventh session of the National Assembly will be inaugurated.
President Goodluck Jonathan had last week met with the acting national chairman of the PDP, Bello Mohammed and other members of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) at the Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State where they discussed the post-election power sharing formula.
Mr Mark flew to the ranch to participate in the meeting
It was learnt that the meeting agreed that some minor changes be made to the formula. The North-Central and South-West geo-political zones retained the senate presidency and the speakership of the house of representatives. There are, however there are indications that the chairmanship of the party may move from the South-East to the North-East while the former (South-East) may produce the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), and the deputy senate president.
