There is a growing resentment among staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission who said they were sidelined by Attahiru Jega, the commission's chair, during the April elections.

Despite popular acclaim from Nigerians and the international community for what was in large part a credible poll, workers at the INEC headquarters Abuja seemed to find nothing to cheer.

"We gained nothing from the exercise," said a senior staff of the commission who did not want to be named. "we were not involved in the training, registration or election proper. We were not allowed to do the job we were employed to do and it is sad," he said.
