CPC Behind Post Election Violence – Presidency

Leadership
11 May 2011

The presidency yesterday said that the media report by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) legal adviser, Abubakar Malami, justifying the post election violence that happened in parts of the country over the presidential poll was an open admission that the party’s supporters were behind the violence. In a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro, the presidency warned that Nigeria is a country ruled laws and not a jungle ruled by whims and caprices.

The statement read in part “It is therefore hard to imagine what purpose these carefully choreographed riots were meant to achieve beyond an attack on those who were believed to have voted against the CPC candidate, and the Youth Corpers who were “guilty” of supervising the process.”
