A United Kingdom (UK) Crown court yesterday sentenced Bhadresh Gohil, one of the lawyers of former Delta State Governor James Ibori to seven years imprisonment for his involvement in the $37 million V-Mobile shares scam.
An online medium, Sahara-reporters, said Judge Christopher Hardy delivered the judgment at the packed Southwark Crown Court in London . Gohil was arraigned on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and money laundering.
The judge said Gohil allowed himself to be used to divert public funds from the sale of ‘V Mobile’ shares in Nigeria to private coffers.
Ibori is currently being held in Dubai , the United Arab Emirates , awaiting deportation to UK for trial in a separate matter.
