Groups berate abandoned community projects

The Leadership Centre for Integrity Peace and Transformation (LCIPT) and Niger Delta Professional (NIDPRODEV) have said that the number of abandoned, incomplete and sub standard projects in the communities of nine states of Niger Delta was a great concern to the people of the area and the region.

This was contained in a press release issued at the end of a one day conference signed by 11 officials of both oil communities and LCIPT including NIDPRODEV and made available to Community News in Owerri over the weekend.

According to the statement, “instead of oil companies operating in these communities to improve on their social amenities, things continue to deteriorate, while the level of representation in the local government was poor and that it was affecting the delivery of services to the local government areas.”

The participants resolved that there was need for a concerted community efforts with a view to ensuring that projects meant for their communities were concluded and delivered on schedule rather than remaining abandoned.
