The John Togo-led Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) has declared that it would not be attending a conference for ex-militants being convened by former members of the House of Representatives from the South-south region.
The former lawmakers had expressed the desire to organise the conference due to the renewed threat by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to blow up oil installations and attack Lagos and Abuja
NDLF, in a statement by its spokesman, Mark Anthony, said the ex-lawmakers from the South-south had no moral right to organise any conference to address the problems of the Niger Delta region.
According to the group, the former lawmakers were part of the problems as they failed to bring the issues confronting the zone to the fore while they were at the lower chamber.
