WARRI – THE Anti-Kidnapping Task Force of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Warri, Delta State , Sunday night, gunned down a suspected kidnapper and arrested six members of a notorious kidnap syndicate, said to have been terrorizing the state at the residence of a native doctor.
The task force, comprising men of the DWSC, Anti-Terrorism Squad, ATS, Warri and regular policemen also rescued two school children, 13-year-old Ninee and Akpos (nine years), both children of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, Warri chairman, kidnapped on March 11 at about 6.00 pm at Effurun, Delta State from the hideaway.
Delta State Police spokesman, Mr Charles Muka, who confirmed the killing of one of the suspected kidnappers and arrest of six others, said that a human skull, locally made gun and sum of N5 million were recovered from them.
The Delta Waterways Anti_Kidnapping Task Force, last week, rescued the 97_year_old mother the PDP Senatorial Candidate in Delta Central Senatorial District, who was kidnapped from her residence and taken to the creek by her abductors after its men got wind of a member of the gang hibernating at Sapele, but he was able to beat the trap that was set to arrest him.
