Traditional Rulers Meet Over Security

Traditional rulers across the country converged in Abuja on Saturday to tackle the nation’s security and socio-political challenges.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, told participants that the meeting was called to address security matters affecting the country.

Abubakar, who is the Chairman of the General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, said the issues needed urgent attention in view of their impact on the economic and social well-being of the citizenry.

“This is an opportunity to exchange ideas of cultural and grassroots development, security, peace and democratic development.

“The crises we have today affect the diverse communities and not just the host communities, equity, justice and fairness and the need to protect human interest, what can be done and how to put a total end to these problems,’’ he said.
