Allegations that some top officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) are involved in corrupt practices and asset stripping is heating up the country's premier power firm.
The PHCN which is currently being unbundled by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) is said to be running four secret accounts.
This is coming as total electric power generation in the country drops to 3,300 mega watts.
Raising the alarm, retired General Manager (Marketing & Customer Service) Abdullahi Tafida told Daily Trust in a letter that his service was terminated without justification, and that the letter only said his "service was no longer required."
Mr. Tafida was also the Chief Executive Officer, Kano Electricity Distribution Company in 2009.
