Halliburton: No notable Nigerian involved - Minister

ABUJA - The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Suleiman Adoke said yesterday that no notable Nigerian was involved in the Halliburton bribery scandal.

The minister said this in Abuja while defending the ministry’s budget of N11.9 billion
before the Senate Committee on Judiciary.

Some officials of the former Halliburton unit, KBR inc., were alleged to have bribed some Nigerians to influence the award of six billion dollars contracts in the Bonny Island Liquefied Natural Gas Project (LNP) to the firm.

“All the big names being paraded by the media were not involved in the Halliburton scandal.
“Those who were involved never mentioned any big name,” he said.

He, however, said that two aides to two former presidents of the country were involved in the scandal.

“The aides never said that they collected the money for their bosses. Each of them answered his father’s name,” he said.
