Stakeholders in Rivers State have praised the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture for being committed to its social responsibility to the people of Niger Delta region, especially through its health care programmes.
The Commissioner for Health Dr. Sampson Parker, who gave the commendation at the Roll Back Malaria programme organised by Chevron in Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area in partnership with Hope and Care Foundation also stated that developmental activities were not exclusive preserve of government but a joint responsibility of all citizens including corporate ones.
Represented by Dr. Claribel Abam, the Director, Disease Control in the state Ministry of Health, Parker who stated the position of government on this health matter also noted that malaria was one of the commonest diseases encouraged by the swampy nature of the Niger Delta region.
