The leaders of the South-West and South-South, in an unusual move, met with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the Presidential Villa, last Wednesday, to discuss burning national issues, most especially the imperative of a national conference to fashion out the terms of the nation’s unity. Leon Usigbe reports on the session.
LEADERS of the South-West and South-South geopolitical zones of the country, last Wednesday, met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House, putting the issue of a national conference firmly on the front burner. In spite of the vociferous call from certain quarters in the country for the convening of the meeting, government has, so far, not showed any inclination towards the gathering. Wednesday’s meeting between the president and the regional leaders also addressed other issues.
