PDP's Imoke Wins Cross River Guber election

Cross River State Governor,  Mr. Liyel  Imoke has been re-elected as the governor of Cross River State. Reacting to the victory by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at Saturday’s governorship election in the State, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan congratulated Mr. Imoke on his victory in the election.

INEC returning officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Profesor James Epoke, declared Imoke victorious, for winning with 451,544 votes and beating out 11 other contestants for the seat. with Usani Usani of the opposing Action Congress of Nigeria party coming in a distant second with 31,206 votes.
All Nigeria’s People’s Party (ANPP) candidate, Mr. Patrick Okomiso came in third with 2,235 votes while Mrs. Ima Nsa-Adegoke of the Labour Party stole fourth with 1,922 votes.

INEC returning officer Epoke said: “Imoke having satisfied the requirements of the law and having scored the highest number of votes is hereby the winner and returned elected.”

In a statement released by Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), The President assures the returning governor of the continued support, cooperation and assistance of the Federal Government and urges him to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of Cross River State by fulfilling their expectations of faster progress and development.
