Federal Government will conclude its post-amnesty programme in 2013, despite setting a terminal target of 2015, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Matters, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has said.

Kuku, who spoke, Monday, at the departure briefing for 146 former militants to Italy, Belarus and South Africa for degree programmes and vocational training in Electrical and Electronic, Petro-Chemical Engineering, Radio Informatics among others,  said no fewer than 12,000 of the former militants would be trained in the country and overseas this year.

He said though the post-amnesty programme was expected to end with the training of the 26,358 former militants in 2015, progress made so far had made it possible for it to be completed two years ahead of the terminal date.

Kuku said: “This programme is only an agent of change. The Federal Government hopes to deploy at least 12,000 this year. This is because we want to conclude the programme between 2010 and 2015.”
