• Acting gov Urges  Orderly
• INEC Assures of Free, Fair Polls

AS the people of Cross River State elect a new governor today, the Acting Governor Larry Odey has called for orderly conduct by all stakeholders to ensure success of the exercise as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) promised to conduct free and fair polls.

The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Mike Igini, in a chat with The Guardian yesterday said there was no excuses on the arrival of materials as was the case in the past. “All sensitive materials arrived yesterday at the INEC headquarters in Calabar on time and the representatives of political parties were called in to assess them. This was done in the presence of all the parties’ agents, Commissioner of Police, State Security Service (SSS), INEC officials and a few other relevant officers. The materials were separated per local government and the far flung ones, like the six councils in the North, left at the wee hours and have all arrived.
