ABUJA — As reactions continue to trail President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to slash pump price of petrol from N141 to N94 per litre, the first civilian President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and a former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), yesterday, passed a vote of confidence on the President

The two leaders said they were satisfied with the outcome of the government and labour face-off, and the security measures taken by government, especially the maturity and statesmanship shown by the President.

Fielding questions from State House correspondents after meeting President Jonathan, Gowon who spoke on behalf of President Shagari, said no one could predict an end to a security challenge, adding that with the resolve of all to give the necessary support, an end can be in sight.
