Senate Asks Jonathan to Revert to N65 Per Litre

The Moment
11January 2012

Abuja — THE Senate has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to reverse the removal of fuel subsidy and revert to the old pump price of N65 per litre.

This came just as the Presidency said it was exploring the option of dialogue with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) as well as other organised sectors that is yet to buy into the policy on the removal of subsidy.

The House of Representatives had earlier taken a similar stance, directing the presidency to suspend the subsidy removal.

The Moment leant that the Senate reached the resolution at the executive session held yesterday to discuss the subsidy removal and the attendant criticism that has trailed the action, especially the strike and protests that have paralysed the nation.
