Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, has threatened to charge anyone who continued to protest against the removal of the fuel subsidy with treason.

Ringim said such protest against government policy constituted a treasonable felony.”

In a statement in Abuja on Monday, Ringim explained that the organised labour had suspended its six-day strike action, adding that no one should therefore organise protests since the issue had been resolved.

He warned that anyone found continuing with the protests would be arrested and charged to court.
