Niger Delta Youths Vow to Resist Protest Against Jonathan

Port HarcourtNiger Delta youths under the aegis of the Niger Delta Youth Leaders Administrative Council (NDLAC) said it will resist any protest against President Goodluck Jonathan over the recent removal of subsidy from petroleum products. The youths, however, admitted that subsidy removal was ill-timed.

The President of NDLAC, Marvin Yorbana, who addressed newsmen after a meeting by the group yesterday in Port Harcourt, advised the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to respect the National Industrial Court (NIC) order stopping it from embarking on nationwide strike.

Yorbana said: "Subsidy removal was ill-timed. I quiet agree and it is not in the interest of Nigerians for now but we want the Federal Government to reconsider the hardship most Nigerians have been plunged into as a result of the subsidy removal.
