Mass Action - PDP Postpones Congresses, Convention

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday postponed its congresses and National Convention which were slated to begin tomorrow across the nation.

The party, through its National Publicity Secretary Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, stated that new dates will be announced in due course.

Though Alkali said the postponement option was considered in order to ensure credible congresses and National Convention and give the party's state chapters enough time to mobilize members nationwide, Daily Trust learnt that the upcoming mass action by labour unions played a significant role in the decision taken by the party's National Working Committee (NWC).
