Senator, Ali Ndume arrested for allegedly sponsoring Boko Haram

A serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ali Ndume has been arrested following confessions of a Boko Haram extremist currently in custody of the State Security Services (SSS). The Boko Haram suspect Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, confessed yesterday to agents that a certain serving Senator, ex-governor and some politicians in the North were sponsors of the radical Islamic sect.

Ndume, a vocal northern politician, was formerly a minority leader of the House of Representatives but dumped his party All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and won election to represent Borno south senatorial seat during the last general elections.

Senator Ndume was one of several senior citizens in Borno State that urged on the Federal Government to withdraw the military task force from the city of Maiduguri following "their indiscriminate killing of unarmed civilians in the area."
