Following the warning from members of the Joint Task Force, in Maiduguri, calling on residents to surrender all illegal weapons to security agencies on or before Monday this week, the task force has begun a house-to-house search.

The Commander of the JTF, Brig.-Gen. Jack Nwaogbo, had advised members of the general public, particularly those in possession of dangerous weapons, to surrender them before the end of October or faced disciplinary action.

The JTF, however, began checking some houses on Tuesday that were suspected to be housing illegal weapons in Bulunkutu, Klorori, BullabulinNgarnam, Mafoni and Gomari areas of Maiduguri and Jere Local Government areas.

The soldiers condoned off the areas, forcing residents to stay indoors throughout the time when the operation lasted.
