The insecurity in the Niger Delta region has grown to another level where everyone can be kidnapped, the President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Comrade Babatunde Ogun has said.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja, while on a visit to some of the agencies under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, he said his union members and their families go through agony when kidnapped and the trauma is unimaginable.

At the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), he told the Executive Secretary of the agency, Engr Mutaqqha Rabe Darma, that about seven years back, the oil and gas workers complained bitterly of the high level of insecurity in Nigeria, "unfortunately, government intervened by stopping us from embarking on industrial action and several committees were formed to proffer solutions. But up till now nothing came out of the committee."
