N/ Delta youths threaten naked protest to Aso Rock

Frustrated by the failure of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to make positive impact and the persisting inactivity of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), youths of the oil-rich region have threatened to protest naked to Aso Rock Villa if the situation persisted till the end of this week.

The youth, through two pressure groups, the Watchdog of Niger Delta (WND) and the Niger Delta Peace Movement (NDPM), called for the sack of the minister, Godsday Orubebe.

The groups  also called on the Federal Government to “defreeze” the activities of the NDDC, citing it as the only agency that had, until recently, continued to touch the lives of the people of the oil-rich region.

In a joint statement signed by the presidents of WND, Amachree Oprite and  NDPM, John Walter, the groups said, besides the fact that the people are displeased that the NDDC, which had made positive impact, had been rendered comatose by reason of politicking, they are yet to feel the impact of the ministry since its inception.
