Governor Olusegun Mimiko, a medical doctor-turned politician, is a lone ranger, politically speaking in the power equation in the country. Short of being labeled an orphan — some opposition politicians have actually called him fouler names — he’s the only governor on the ticket of the Labour Party (LP). Yet, he’s undeterred. Instead, he’s trying to prove to his critics that a tree can, indeed, make a forest. He spoke to The Guardian in Akure, reeling out some of his laudable programmes and achievements for which he and his government have received accolades and commendations.
