European Union (EU) parliamentarians have said they were concerned about developments in the Niger Delta, Nigeria
A delegation is scheduled to visit the region in April 2012 on a fact-finding mission.
A member of the parliament, Mr Dennis de Jong, disclosed this at the EU Parliament in Brussels , Belgium , during a meeting with the Special Adviser to Nigeria
Mr Jong said a four-man delegation from the Development Committee would embark on the trip as the EU was interested in finding out the true situation on the activities of European multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta.
The Netherlands Socialist Party member said the oil firms have been informed of the visit even as he disclosed that they were not happy.
