Boko Haram suspects escape: Army discharges General

Former commander of the 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, Brigadier-General Muraina Raji, standing trial, for alleged complicity in the escape of two Boko Haram suspects, has been discharged and acquitted of all the three-count charge against him.

The six-man Court Martial was convened and inaugurated by the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Division, Major-General Sunday Idoko, on Tuesday August 16, 2011.

Brigadier General Raji was however, convicted on “special findings” by the court and sentenced to a three-month loss of seniority in his present rank of Brigadier-General subject to the approval of appropriate military authorities for failing to show interest in the detainees who were regarded as high profile.
