Bayelsa SSS Boss Denies Report on Saro-Wiwa
Yenagoa — The Director of State Security Service (SSS) in Bayelsa State, Andrew Iorkyar has denied the report saying he attributed the hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa to his plans to declare a federation. Reacting to a story captioned, "Why Saro-Wiwa was hanged" published in Daily Trust newspaper of October 5, 2011, Iorkyar in a statement said he was misunderstood and quoted out of context.

He said he only said that even though intelligence report indicated that late Saro Wiwa had an ethnic militia as an instrument for the struggle against environmental degradation by oil companies, the man was hanged not on that account, but on a judgment of a tribunal which found him culpable in the killing of some Ogoni elders.
