AS the preparations for the November 19 governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State hot up, a former Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and erstwhile Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Timi Alaibe, has said “I’m still very much in the race to secure PDP’s ticket.”

He expressed optimism that he would emerge as the standard-bearer of the party at the end of the gubernatorial primary, where delegates would vote to elect the party’s candidate in the February, 2012 governorship poll in Bayelsa State.

Alaibe, in a telephone chat with the Nigerian Tribune, on Tuesday, said his nomination form for the PDP primary would be submitted before today, being the last day of submission, according to the schedules released by the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.

“I am not only going to be an active participant in the primary, but will also emerge as the candidate of the PDP in the governorship election, scheduled to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 11, 2012,” he said.
