THE Nigerian Local Content policy is now serving as a model for some multinational companies in their global operations.

Already, the Royal Dutch Shell has adopted the ideals of the content policy in its operations worldwide.

For the purpose of the effective adoption and implementation, the company has appointed Simbi Wabote as its local content manager for Shell Exploration and International Limited. He was the former General Manager, Nigerian Content Development of Shell Nigeria.

The implementation of the Nigerian Content is geared towards establishing facilities in Nigeria and ensuring that they are patronised so as to create employment opportunities that will bring Nigerian jobs back home.

The emphasis of the Federal Government on the implementation was not only to retain the bulk of the yearly oil and gas industry spending in the country, but ultimately to create employment for millions of Nigerians from industry operations.
